Hello, my name is Ian Callon.  I am a driven individual who constantly searches to learn and improve upon his work. I am hardworking and detail-oriented, and I strive always to make decisions with integrity. In teaching, I hope to positively impact students and the community by establishing a safe atmosphere of critical thinking and question-asking, preparing students for success on mathematical assessments, strengthening student understanding of conceptual mathematics and building number sense, illustrating the relevance of math in daily life, and being a positive example and a catalyst for change.

I have taught 3 courses at Oakwood High School the past two years: Algebra 1, AP Calculus BC, and an Honors course for sophomores using an integrated mathematical curriculum. This rich variety of content, rigor, and developmental level of students has trained me in engaging and reaching many different types of students. I have learned the tremendous importance of differentiating how I teach and interact with students, of communication and collaboration with students, parents, and faculty, and of constantly looking for methods and ideas to improve my craft. In addition to teaching mathematics, I assist with the Junior High band program and with the High School marching band.
